Visit Frequency: Once
Average Duration: 1 hour
Visit Expectations: For the first visit, we typically complete intake procedures where we discuss your story and the journey that brought you to the office.
After your intake, we go over the typical medications that are used throughout the transition process; as well as side effects, and risks versus benefits. We review your overall health history and determine if there are any immediate barriers to providing hormone therapy (usually, there aren't). We also go over a handout that lists permanent changes versus temporary changes and answers any questions you may have after your visit.
From there, Dr. M will conduct a modified physical, order and collect the appropriate lab work for baseline values, and rule out any underlying conditions that we may need to monitor throughout your transition. Most of the time, medications can be prescribed at this visit so long as the you and Dr. M are comfortable doing so.
Congratulations, you've reached the end of your first visit! While wrapping things up, we'll make an appointment for your 3-month follow-up visit.
